Summer in Maine and Izzy Lee's Newest Collection

If you live in Maine, you don’t leave for the summer. Because why would you? It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world.

But Maine is more than just rocky coasts, the backdrop of sailboats, or the seagulls flying overhead. It’s also about community.

A village of cheerleaders

Our community is beautiful. It’s incredibly vulnerable, resilient, and loving. To be a part of it is to have a village of cheerleaders lifting you and your family up. It’s the type of community that delivers meals when you need a little extra support. It’s the kind of place that looks out for your children, where the older children look after the younger ones. It’s where people show up for each other, and where summer seems to make all of that goodness feel even a little more visible with late nights congregating at the beach and in our backyards.

The days are often filled with sandy feet, wet bathing suits, out on the water (either sailing or splashing in it), and kids running around until they’re completely exhausted. There are boats in the harbor, trips to local islands, and evenings watching the most picturesque sunset.

And this summer, we had even more to celebrate, because we launched our new collection.

The people who brought it to life

Bringing this line to life was very much a family and community affair. The photos were captured with the help of our incredibly talented photography team, Zack Bowen and Nora Bowen, and the little ones running around in our newest pieces are a combination of my own children, family members, and the children of close friends.

And then there were my two dear friends, and Izzy Lee teammates, Tenaya Britton and Carrie Hayward, who helped dress the children, stage the shots, and somehow keep everything moving in the midst of the beautiful chaos. Finally, Rachel Battarbee, who worked tirelessly to help bring the collection to life and find the right manufacturing partner. These pieces would not have been possible without her thoughtful care and expertise.

It felt really special to see the new collection come to life this way. These pieces were designed with Maine, our hometown, in mind, and having them photographed here, surrounded by the people we love, made the whole process feel even more meaningful.

Maine, woven into every print

Our new line includes Maine-inspired flora and fauna prints, with white pines, ripe blueberries, lobsters, sailboats, moose, and more. And, of course, there are rainbows hidden throughout.

You can explore it in three collections: Casco Bay, Little Pines, and Down East Daydreams.

The rainbow is a nod to the diverse spectrum of fertility journeys, and a way of honoring my daughter, Izzy Lee, who was stillborn. It also represents the beautiful magic of family and community, and the unexpected ways we find one another, love one another, and carry one another through both the hardest and happiest seasons of life.

Made for the everyday moments

So much of that magic happens in the everyday moments of raising children, and we wanted the collection to be pieces that could be part of those moments, too. For our line, we have onesies for littles, jogger sets with coordinating t-shirts, and our latest sweatshirts for layering on those cool mornings and evenings. And we have new bibs and blankets, because beautiful things can still be practical.

We hope you love this collection as much as we do. We hope it reminds you of Maine, of little sandy feet and big adventures, of long days running around outside (or in), and of the community that makes a place feel like home.

And if you order one of our pieces, please reach out and let us know what you think. We love seeing our pieces out in the world being worn, loved, spilled on, snuggled in, and becoming part of your family’s story.

Here’s to summer in Maine, to our beautiful community, to the families we build, and to all the love that surrounds us along the way. And here’s to this new little collection that celebrates what matters most to us: our beautiful rocky coastline, family, friendship, remembrance, hope, and a whole lot of rainbow magic.

With love & gratitude,
Sarah Piasecki, Co-founder of Izzy Lee’s
